My father loved the Lawrence Welk show on our “porthole” TV and audio console (pictured above), so he had me take accordion lessons at our local Savanich Music School, which featured the Accordian Band seated on the back of a flat-bed trailer, pulled by a tractor while rolling down Main Street in the annual Raseberry Day parade.
It’s the post-war housing boom, and our street was sprouting homes, with an abundance of choice scraps for building forts. In this case, I was driving a truck with the Irish Twins on a mysterious mission. And the sprouting continued, filling in the empty lots behind us, which I hope to get a shot of today from the backyard.
And I plan to walk by the Elmo Park Apartments, where this final scene, catching the bus, was shot. However, it appears the name has been changed to Brentwood Townhomes & Apartments, but the shapes of the structures on the map look the same, with the interior street to the parking lot labeled Elmo Rd., another photo challenge!
